What is the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts?

The Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts is a nationally recognised quality mark that acknowledges martial arts clubs and providers in England who have demonstrated and continue to maintain high safeguarding standards.

Developed by Sport England in partnership with martial arts governing bodies and safeguarding specialists, the code helps parents, carers and educational establishments make informed decisions when choosing a martial arts club for children, young people and adults in their care.

Clubs awarded the Safeguarding Code have shown they have the correct policies, procedures, training and welfare practices in place to create a safe and positive environment for all students.

What does this mean for our members?

Achieving and maintaining the Safeguarding Code demonstrates our commitment to:

  • Providing a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Ensuring our coaches and assistants receive appropriate safeguarding training and guidance.
  • Having clear safeguarding and welfare policies and procedures in place.
  • Promoting respect, kindness and positive behaviour throughout our dojo.
  • Acting quickly and appropriately should any concerns arise.

Whether you are a child attending your very first class, an adult returning to martial arts, or a parent watching from the sidelines, we want you to feel confident that your welfare and well-being are our highest priority.

Our Commitment

We are incredibly proud to have achieved the Safeguarding Code in Martial Arts and to maintain this standard year after year.

Every member of our coaching team and assistant team works hard to ensure Shi Kon Martial Arts remains a place where students feel safe, supported and valued.

Our goal is not simply to teach martial arts techniques, it is to help our students build confidence, develop resilience, make lasting friendships and enjoy their training in an environment where they can thrive.

The safety and welfare of our students will always come first.

If you have any safeguarding or welfare concerns, or would like to discuss any aspect of student welfare, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are here to listen and help.
